Perry Gershon Raises More Than $500,000 in First Quarter Since Filing to Run for New York’s 1st Congressional District

Suffolk County, New York – October 5, 2017 – Perry Gershon, an entrepreneur, businessman, and Democratic candidate for New York’s 1st congressional district, today released his first quarter fundraising total, showing mounting support for his challenge to Rep. Lee Zeldin. The Gershon campaign raised more than $500,000 dollars in the period between filing his candidacy paperwork on July 15th and September 30th.

“Since I entered this race, I’ve spoken with hundreds of residents and listened to their concerns about the extremist positions Lee Zeldin has taken,” said Gershon. “Long Islanders are hungry for new leadership and today’s filing reflects an encouraging vote of confidence in our campaign. We need to make sure that Long Islanders have a representative who understands their needs and who will fight for their interests.”

Over the past two and a half months, Gershon has put more than 6,000 miles on his car traveling around the 1 st congressional district to speak with voters about the most pressing issues facing Long Island.

“Over the coming months, I’ll continue to speak with people in communities across Suffolk County to let them know they can count on me to fight for high paying jobs, affordable health care, and a clean environment,” added Gershon.
