The single greatest threat

Climate Change is the greatest single threat to life on Long Island. Rising sea levels cause coastal flooding – we see it in Mastic Beach, Riverhead, and Montauk. Or if you are not on the coast, just think about Long Island’s damage from Superstorm Sandy - what if these odd and severe weather patterns become the norm?

Extreme weather affects all of us, economically and otherwise. We must take the steps locally, nationally, and globally to save our planet. Otherwise, we will be among the first to lose.

Renewable energy is key. We must set attainable local, state, and federal standards to move us towards carbon neutrality.

Solar energy, electric vehicles, and decreased reliance on coal and fossil fuels are the first steps. Steps that could allow Suffolk County to become a hub for clean energy development and, potentially, great union jobs.

From local administrators to the White House, we must elect representatives who share that vision. We cannot allow the Zeldin special lip-service or Trump's dismissal of scientists to continue.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
