What I've been up to this summer

Anyone who has been to our district knows it’s one of the most beautiful places in the country. Beaches, biking, and especially backyard BBQ’s are the trademarks of a Suffolk County summer.

Throughout this summer, Lisa and I have had the privilege of meeting and re-introducing ourselves to thousands of Long Islanders. It’s one thing to talk to the politically active, but it’s another experience – a valuable experience – to listen to those who don’t think about politics 24/7. We met many Long Islanders whose main worry is how to keep their families healthy, safe, and educated.

We cracked open two-pound lobsters with the Eastport Fire Department, ate burgers with first responders in Medford, and drank beers with fire fighters in Holtsville. Every week we walked the Alive street fairs in Riverhead and Patchogue, and we learned from veterans and faith groups.

Along the way, we heard what matters most to Long Islanders: affordability, healthcare, patriotism, and protecting our magnificent Suffolk County environment.

Here are a few photos for a taste of the summer’s highlights, and keep an eye out for us at more events as the summer concludes. We’re running a campaign for everyday Long Islanders and we’re just getting started.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
