Sunday Read: Whose Side is Zeldin on in the Impeachment Debate?

In the past week, we have been presented with two stark paths: corruption and democracy.

When I called for an impeachment inquiry, I picked democracy.

If corroborated, this apparent use of executive power and American foreign policy to benefit Donald Trump politically is beyond deeply concerning. It's reprehensible, unacceptable, a dereliction of duty, and a stain on the norms that make our country the aspiration of the world.

Rather than investigate the facts, Lee Zeldin has been lockstep with the president, putting defense of Trump ahead of our national interest (his comments have even been retweeted and celebrated directly by Trump). Zeldin would rather attack the investigators than comment on the evidence in front of all of us.

I can't stand by.

Our community deserves a representative that will tell the truth. Full stop. In The Long Island Advocate, I call for us to come together as Americans and in light of the concerning facts support an impeachment inquiry. You can read my op-ed HERE. It's time for our elected representatives to put country over party, truth over spin, and America over Donald Trump. Lee Zeldin just doesn't get it.

P.S. Our campaign continues to get great press coverage. Check out this City and State article about my impeachment position. Because of generous support from Americans like you, we're the campaign to beat in NY-1. Help me do it here.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
