So proud to be part of TEAM GERSHON: town hall recap

I am coming off of such an amazing high from Perry's virtual town hall that he held last night, and I want to tell you about it. This was Perry's 8th town hall (the 2nd that was held online) in his Fighting for Long Island town hall tour, and he pulled together an impressive panel to answer questions from residents of the 1st Congressional District: a nationally renowned doctor in infectious disease, an ICU doctor working on the frontlines of the Coronavirus crisis at Winthrop Hospital in Nassau, and local officials from three towns in the district.

The town hall was held simultaneously on Zoom and Facebook and between both platforms, over 750 people participated and asked almost 80 questions. When we first decided that due to the health crisis we needed to move our town halls online, we were a little nervous from a technical perspective. But just as we did with our virtual town hall in March, we had zero hiccups!

Our team did an amazing job last evening, managing everything on the backend. But Perry was at the center of it all, juggling five panelists while answering multiple questions and throwing questions to the experts so they could give valuable and factual information to the participants.

Campaign events like last night, and candidates like Perry, are why I got into politics. Because we NEED people like Perry Gershon in Congress. Leadership matters. If this crisis has shown us anything, it's that we need gutsy, smart leaders who have our best interests at heart to represent us. People like Perry. Not many people can pull together a coalition of elected officials from multiple towns, national specialists, and frontline workers the way that Perry did. It's not easy. It takes dedication, persistence, focus, and drive.

That's why Perry needs your help. He is the only congressional candidate in the region who is engaging with voters by holding town halls. But he needs the resources to continue that engagement. That's why I'm asking you to take one minute to donate $25 right now.

Don't do it for just Perry. Do it for yourself. Do it for your future. We should be able to have trust and confidence in the leaders in our government. Too many people don't feel that way with our current crop of elected officials in Washington, DC. However, with Perry representing Suffolk County in Congress, residents here will know they will be taken care of.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
