Our virtual food drive

One thing we take great pride in as Long Islanders and New Yorkers is our resilience, and our commitment to and pride in our communities—we are, and have always been, stronger together.

During this pandemic, that means looking out for those around us who already were struggling before the coronavirus hit our shores.

The pandemic has had a devastating impact on our community here on Long Island. Lost jobs, drastic pay cuts, closure of necessary supplemental school meal programs, have put too many of our friends, families, and neighbors under tremendous strain.

Many of these families, living paycheck to paycheck, have been faced with tough choices. That many of them continue to do so, while needing to stay home and losing wages, or risking their health working in our selectively-opened retail businesses and potentially facing treatment they cannot afford, is all the more reason they need each of us to step up for them right now.

Thankfully, we can do something for them. Organizations like Long Island Cares, who have done critical work before this pandemic, are stepping up in an even bigger way right now. And we are proud to boost their efforts through hosting a virtual food drive, to show that togetherness and resilience is the bedrock of our community.

This is an easy, contact-free way to make a huge difference for our neighbors in need. Simply click onto the platform, pick the items you wish to donate, and they'll be shipped directly to Long Island Cares to provide for local families devastated, physically and economically, by coronavirus.

If you are able at this time, please consider supporting Long Island Cares through our link. Your donation will go a long way towards making a difference to so many families.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
