We honor our fallen heroes

Today, on Memorial Day, we honor our fallen heroes, those who died serving their country to protect our way of life.

I am grateful that my grandfather survived the liberation of Dachau and came home to raise a family and continue to serve his country. But many others did not and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect America from fascism. Today, we remember their sacrifice.

Much is different this year as we are unable to attend the normal public parades and observances. But honoring our fallen service members remains the same, and hopefully, by next year, we can restore our regular traditions.

This year, as 100,000 Americans have fallen from a viral pandemic, we feel for their tragic early deaths. Let's especially not forget those who served our country and returned home safely, but were taken by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your premature passings were unfair, the result of a viral enemy raging havoc on our society.

May we increase testing and find a solution soon so that our service members protecting us during this crisis can return home safely, so that our veterans can stay healthy, and so that all of us can live freely again.

For 25 years, I have been a common-sense businessman — not a career politician — so I look at things differently. I know about fixing dysfunction. It starts with hard work, a commitment to results, and perseverance — not scoring cheap political points. We can work together to provide opportunity and create an economy that works for all of us.
